Melamine Faced Plywood Composition

Melamine faced plywood is composed of three main layers:

Melamine overlay - The melamine overlay is a resin-impregnated paper that is thermally fused to the plywood core under high pressure and temperature. This overlay provides a durable and water-resistant surface that is easy to clean and maintain.

Face veneer - This is the outermost layer of the plywood, and it is usually made from a thin sheet of hardwood or softwood. Our company usually uses poplar veneer and recon veneer as face veneer.

Core - The core of the plywood is made up of multiple thin layers of wood that are glued together in a cross-grain pattern. This cross-grain construction gives the plywood its strength and stability, making it less prone to warping or splitting than solid wood.

How to Make Melamine Faced Plywood?

There are two processing techniques for melamine faced plywood:

1. Direct laminate technology
The direct laminating process of Melamine faced plywood is almost the same as that of MELAMINE MDF: they both used laminate hot press line,the raw board and melamine decorative paper are laminated together through high temperature and high pressure.
But direct laminating has a very strict requirements on the process and the flatness of the plywood.

2. Composite laminate technology
It is to laminate the melamine paper on the core sheet first, and then paste the laminates veneer paper on the plywood with a multy-layer hot press. It has lower requirements for plywood than direct laminate technology.
